Pupil Services
The Harbor Creek School District hereby notifies parents and guardians of children with disabilities, aged 3-21, of the availability of Special Education Services at no cost to parents. These services are designed to meet the unique educational needs of these children.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to help students overcome barriers in order that they may achieve, remain in school, and advance.

What is the Student Assistance Program

Early Intervention
This program is designed to locate, evaluate, and identify children aged three through Kindergarten-eligible age who are thought to have special needs which may interfere with learning. These services are provided by the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit #5. For more information, call 734-5610.

Learning Support
This program is for exceptional students whose primary identified need is academic learning.

Speech and Language Support
This program is for exceptional students who have speech or language impairment.

Life Skills Support
This program focuses primarily on exceptional students whose area of need is to develop skills for independent living.

Emotional Support
This program is for students with a disability whose primary identified need is for emotional support.

Autistic Support
This program is for exceptional students who have autism.

Physical Support
This program is designed to meet the needs of the student with the disabilities of orthopedic or other health impairment.

Blind and Visually Impaired Support
These services are for students with the disability of visual impairment, including blindness.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Impaired Support
These services are for students with the disabilities of deafness or hearing impairment.

Multiple Disabilities Support
This program is for exceptional students with multiple disabilities.

Protected Handicapped Services
In compliance with State and Federal Law, the Harbor Creek School District will provide to each protected handicapped student without discrimination or costs to the student or family, those related aids, services or accommodations which are needed to provide equal opportunity to participate in and obtain the benefits of the school program and extracurricular activities to the maximum extent appropriate to the student's abilities. In order to qualify as a protected handicapped student, the child must be of school age with a physical or mental disability which substantially limits or prohibits participation in or access to an aspect of the school program. These services and protections for "Protected Handicapped Students" are distinct from those applicable to all eligible or exceptional students enrolled (or seeking enrollment) in special education programs. For further information on the evaluation procedures and provision of services to protected handicapped students, contact your child's building principal.

Gifted Enrichment
Students identified to have abilities within the Gifted range are entitled to specially designed activities and advanced classes.

Screening / Confidentially
The screening of students, who are thought to be exceptional, is an on-going process. The Harbor Creek School District protects the confidentially of personally identifiable information regarding an exceptional student, thought to be exceptional student, or an eligible young child or thought to be eligible young child. The Harbor Creek School District will provide access to educational records to the parents of a student or young child or a representative of the parents.
